Mea Culpa

Voter's Guide Miss

By now many of you have probably received the Voter's Guide for the General Election. Sadly, if you turn to the candidates for Kettle Falls School Director District #2 you will see a blurb by my opponent, and a blank spot where the one describing myself goes.

I could throw out some excuses... I'm busy, the voter's guide is filled with such blank pages so 'others' struggled on this front, I thought I had lots of time, etc... but let's call it what it is: A Miss. Mea Culpa.

In life, I've made plenty of mistakes. I once caught a football kicked to me to return at the 1 yard line. I thought I'd get a touchback by stepping into the endzone and kneeling (if you know Football you know this didn't make coach happy). I've been in the community of Kettle Falls for a long time, and I have had the opportunity to make a few mistakes along the way. As Basketball coach I've made mistakes, as a parent I've made mistakes, as a board member I've made mistakes. Mea Culpa.

I tell the players that I coach that a mistake doesn't define you, stop you or defeat you unless you let it. In fact, a mistake is a learning opportunity. A chance for growth, and I'm still growing. I try hard to learn from the mistakes I make, and I try to apply them to new situations as they arise. I'm a better basketball coach than I was 17 years ago. I'm a better board member than I was 5 years ago, and I'm a better businessman than I was 21 years ago.

I'm working to redress this mistake too. Vision for KFSD, Qualifications, and Accomplishments should have filled the Voter's Guide and I wouldn't have needed to write a Mea Culpa.
